Top Rank's Bob Arum to Visit South Texas

10.02.06 - Hall of Fame Promoter and Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum is embarking on a two-day four-city South Texas tour to promote “Real Warriors”, the World Welterweight Championship fight between Antonio Margarito, considered one of the most feared boxers in the sport, and Laredo Texas’ very own Manual “Shotgun” Gomez. Arum will arrive in San Antonio on Monday February 13 and will wrap up the mini-tour Tuesday February 14 in McAllen..

The Margarito-Gomez rumble will be broadcast live on Pay-Per-View, Saturday, February 18, from the Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

Arum explains, the name sums up the event, "These are fighters who fight and who give it their all - that is why we're calling this 'Real Warriors,'”

Arum will begin his South Texas jaunt in San Antonio followed by trips to Laredo, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley.

Arum will also be on hand discussing several up coming Top Rank shows on the horizon including Hassim Rahman vs. James Toney on March 18 and Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Zab Judah, on April 8. Arum will also discuss Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo 3 and Manny Pacquiao vs. Eric Morales 3

Arum, a pioneer in Latin boxing PPV’s and architect of Oscar De la Hoya's amazing professional career, began his promotional career by promoting many of Muhammad Ali's biggest fights, starting with the first bout he ever saw, Ali's world title defense against George Chuvalo in 1966.
