Brewster vs Lyakhovic on April 1st?
26.02.06 - By Ike Enwereuzor: It looks like WBO heavyweight champion Lamon "Relentless" Brewster (33-2 with 29 Knockouts) will make his fourth title defence on April 1, 2006 against Russian and former NABA heavyweight champion Sergey "White Wolf" Lyakhovic (22-1 14 KO's). The event will be promoted by Don King productions on Showtime Championship Boxing..
Brewster suffered his two losses to Charles Shufford in October and Clifford Etienne in June 2000, both by 10 round unaninmous decision. He last defended his belt September 28, 2005 in Germany against Luan Krasniqi stopping him round 9. In his second title defense on May 21, 2005, "The Black Rocky" successfully retained his WBO belt with an impressive first round TKO over Andrew Golota. After capturing the vacant WBO heavyweight championship over former champion Wladmir Klitschko with a 5th round unexpected TKO, he made his first title defense in September 2004 winning a 12 round split decision over Kali Meehan.
Lyakhovic, won the North America Boxing Association (NABA) heavyweight championship over previous champion Friday Ahunanya on November 17, 2001 and suffered his first and only loss in July 2002 in the hands of former heavyweight contender Maurice Harris who stopped "the White Wolf" in round nine. Since then Lyakhovic has been on the winning stake winning all his six fights, his last victory fight was a 10 round unanimous decision over heavyweight contender Dominick Guinn in December 2004.
