Los Angeles, CA – June 19, 2006 – Sports icon and international celebrity Mike Tyson announced today that he has hired sports marketing and entertainment company, Sports Placement Service, Inc. (SPS), to handle all of his marketing and licensing opportunities..

Tyson, who became the youngest undisputed heavyweight champion of all time at the age of twenty, was impressed with SPS’s expertise in representing iconic celebrity brands and its aggressive nature in removing unlicensed and unauthorized products from the marketplace. Sports Placement Service, Inc. (SPS) is the sports industry’s leader in the representation and marketing of retired athletes having represented sport legends such as Muhammad Ali, Joe Namath, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jim Brown, Sandy Koufax, Mark McGwire, and John Riggins.

“Our team feels both privileged and honored that Mike chose Sports Placement Service to represent him,” said SPS Founder Harlan J. Werner. “It was nearly 18 years ago when the most recognized man on the planet, Muhammad Ali, gave me the chance to work for him. I’m feeling the same excitement today as I did then. It’s rare that a person gets a second opportunity to represent someone who is so well-known and has such mass worldwide appeal. I am energized for the journey that lies ahead and thrilled to have Mike as a part of the SPS family.”
