Rodriguez wallops Whetzel!

15.07.06 - The undefeated heavy-handed heavyweight sensation, David “Nino” Rodriguez 22-0 (21 KO’s) scored his twentieth first round knock out when he pummeled late sub Dan Whetzel 7-8-1 (4 KO’s) at the 2:00 minute mark of the first round last night at the Fifth Third Ball Park at Comstock Park in Grand Rapids, MI..

The fire fisted El Paso native has went on a tear ripping through the heavyweight division utilizing his size strength and knock out power to submit his opponents and Saturday night was no different for the twenty-eight year old rising star.

His scheduled opponent was the 6’9” undefeated Oklahoman Rick Dyer 10-0 (10 KO’s) whom just three days before their go around pulled out of the bout due to complications in his wife’s pregnancy. Rodriguez sent his thoughts and prayers to the Dyer family where the last word was Mother and baby Dyer were both ok.

His résumé of first round knock victims include Tommy ‘Concrete’ Connelly who David made short work of in 2003 to win the vacant Texas State Heavyweight title, in April of ’04 Rodriguez devoured the forty-six fight veteran Jeff Lally in two minutes to earn himself the vacant New Mexico State Heavyweight title, in the summer of ’04 he high sided the once beaten Cruz Quintana in the opening round, earlier this year “Nino” smacked down the thirty-three fight veteran Jeff Pegues and now with this all out assault gives him an even twenty opening round stoppages, and Rodriguez looks to continue his dominance.

Rodriguez is attentively scheduled to return to the ring August 17th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Houston, Texas against an opponent to be named.
