Euro Roundup: Valuev/Barrett, Adamek/Briggs, More

31.07.06 - By Per Ake Persson: WBA heavy champ Nikolai Valuev vs Monte Barrett have October 7 as working date and the fight appears to be headed for Madison Square Garden in New York City. Both WBC lightheavy champ Tomasz Adamek and Australian challenger Paul Briggs have signed contracts for a fight but according to Bobby Goodman of Don King Productions there are still problems to be worked out..

German cruiser prospect Marco Huck takes on Italian Pietro Aurino for the vacant EU title September 23 somewhere in Germany. Huck is currently in training at the Baltic Coast along with IBF middle ruler Arthur Abraham and WBC 168 lb champ Markus Beyer.

Check out klitschko.com for an interesting interview with Emanuel Steward. It appears Wladimir Klitschko´s first defence of the IBF title is to take place November 11 with Shannon Briggs as the likely opponent.

Polish Boxing Promotions, headed by Krzysztof Zbarski, have formed a Polish leg of the Hungarian network Sport Klub and have acquired TV rights for over 100 boxing events a year including ESPN and HBO`s Boxing After Dark. There will also be classic bouts of all time greats.
