10th Straight Sellout Greets Fight Promoter University II Students

09.08.06 - Irvine, CA: Not only will the nearly 40 future fight promoters who have already signed up to attend Fight Promoter University II get classroom instruction from 14 different guest speakers, but they will also get to see why the Irvine Marriott’s Battle In The Ballroom is used as the FPU laboratory to teach about successful show operations, as promoter Roy Englebrecht announced the 10th consecutive sellout for the Battle In The Ballroom show on Thursday, August 24th..

FPU students will learn, observe, and work the Battle In The Ballroom show, with 1,412 fans in attendance. They will be in the ballroom from the time the boxing ring is loaded in, to the placing of all ballroom chairs, to the issuing of all fighters official checks at the end of the evening. Each FPU student will get to work five different jobs on August 24th, so that they truly get “hands on” experience. Students will alternate each fight, working as ticket takers, ushers, glove men, ring card girl attendants, and fighter walk in coordinators. Plus, each FPU student will be outfitted with a Motorola walkie talkie and headset, so that can hear all that goes on between promoter Roy Englebrecht and his entire show staff.

“We can teach in a classroom setting about being a fight promoter until we are blue in the face,” said FPU founder Roy Englebrecht, “but until they actually see where you place a ring, how to set and mark chairs, how to dress the ring, and do all the little details that makes a show successful, they really don’t have a complete understanding of the business.”

FPU II applications are still being accepted for the three day session, August 23rd to 25th, and people can apply at www.fightpromoteruniversity.com.
