ďI am shocked that after such a serious accident, Mr. Hamed has been released after less than four months,Ē Burgin said. ďI am very upset that this has happened, I was obviously expecting Mr. Hamed to serve a lot more of his sentence.Ē
The incident occurred on May 2 of this year. Hamed was driving his Mercedes at a high speed, approximately 90 mph, when he violently collided head on with Burginís Volkswagen Golf. Burgin had to be cut free from his vehicle and sustained horrific injuries as a result of the crash. A female passenger was also injured.
Hamed and two others were originally arrested for leaving the scene of the crash.
This did not mark the first time Hamed encountered trouble for his driving habits. He was cited for speeding several times in 1995, 1998, 1999 and 2004.
