Euro Boxing Roundup: Kessler In His Final Week of Sparring In Preparation for Oct 14 Bout Against Beyer

03.10.06 - By Per Ake Persson: WBA lightheavy champ Fabrice Tiozzo´s defence against strong Argentinian Hugo Garai November 18 will go ahead in Le Cannet in the south of France in what will be the 10th anniversary of promoter Michel Acaries´s first show there.

WBA supermiddle ruler Mikkel Kessler is now in the final week of sparring and will when all is done have completed 160 rounds of hard work against Russian southpaws Sergey Tatevosyan and Eric Teymour. It´s a lot by anyone´s standard, too much some might argue - we´ll see who´s right October 14 in Parken against WBC titlist Markus Beyer when the "Battle of the Champions" goes ahead.

Welter Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez headlines a small show in Madrid October 7. Martinez takes on Oliver Thinda.

The annual show in Izegem, Belgium, November 1 could feature hardpunching welter Jackson Osei Bonsu.

The conflict between the two rival federations in Slovakia rolls on. Swedish lightweight Shadi Hamsho, 8-0, saw his planned September 29 fight in Los Angeles go up in smoke when the show cancelled but may fight October 6 in Arizona instead.
