“Elvir has always been a tremendous crowd pleaser, and who can forget his ESPN fight of the year with Sam Ahmad?" asked DeGuardia. “Watching a Muriqi fight is always fun, as he brings out his passionate fans (Kosovo and Albanian flags waving) and the atmosphere is electric.”
The exciting card also feature s the star from the original NBC's "Contender" series and wildly popular middleweight boxer, Joey Gilbert (12-1, 9 KOs), as well as a USBA Title clash between world-rated junior middleweight contenders.
Gilbert, the practicing lawyer and corporate exec, will take on Kansas City’s Keith Sims (25-12-1, 14 KOs) in defense of the NABO Middleweight Championship he won by stopping rival Jimmy Lange last February. And in another very special co-featured attraction, Olympic Bronze Medalist Terrence Cauthen (31-3, 8 KOs) of New Jersey will challenge Brooklyn’s formidable USBA Junior Middleweight Champion Raul Frank (27-5-2, 13 KOs) in a 12-round title bout.
“We’re proud to be able to bring such high-quality shows to our home state of New York and we know the fans in attendance will enjoy this exciting night of top-level professional boxing,” said DeGuardia. "The card has something for everyone, as Elvir Muriqi’s large group of loyal fans will certainly be in attendance, while the female and non-traditional fans will be there in support of Joey Gilbert and the purists will be there for the exciting match-up between the brawler Frank and the boxer Cauthen in the USBA title fight.
The undercard is packed with some of the Star Boxing stables hottest contenders including future heavyweight champion Kevin Johnson (10-0-1, 5 KOs) of Asbury Park, New Jersey; hometown heavyweight puncher Tony Grano (4-0-1, 4 KOs); and former Olympian Roberto Benitez (4-0, 3 KOs).
The card will also offer other exciting bouts featuring local favorites.
