Adamek wins Decision over Briggs
07.10.06 - By Jeff Bastasini: WBC light heavyweight champion Tomasz Adamek (31-0, 21 KO's) won a majority decision tonight against challenger Paul Briggs (25-3, 18 KO's). The fight was a back and forth slugfest, with Adamek going down in the 1st round from a big left hook from Briggs. However, Adamek came back in the next two rounds, outworking Briggs, who was looking for one big shot.
In the 4th and fifth round, Briggs landed big shots to win the rounds. In the 9th round, Adamek hurt Briggs with a big right hand. However, he was able to come back at the end of the round to punish Adamek. Two low blows followed, with Adamek being deducted a point. However, Adamek hurt Briggs once again with a big right hand. Over the last two rounds, the action was back and forth with both sluggers going all out. Adamek seemed to have more at the end than Briggs. The final scoring results were 113-113, 114-112, 115-111, for Adamek.
