Roy Jones Jr. To Fight Manny Siaca On December 9th

28.10.06 - By Scott Frake: Roy Jones Jr. (50-4, 38 KO's) will be taking on light heavyweight Manny Siaca (20-6, 18 KO's) on December 9th, according the latest boxing news. Siaca, 30, is currently ranked #2 in the WBA. In terms of boxing talent, Siaca is about along the same lines as Roy Jones Jr's last opponent, Prince Badi Ajamu, although with a little more power. Siaca has been previously stopped by Byron Mitchell, who has beaten him twice, and Mikkel Kessler. There's no shame in that, but if you were looking for Jones, 37, to be fighting a champion-level opponent, then you're going to be sorely disappointed, I'm afraid.

At this point, it appears that Jones is taking the career slow path once again, rather than challenging a title holder, like Tomasz Adamek, Farbrice Tiozza or better yet, Zsolt Erdei. Siaca, although he's respectable opponent, he also has slow hand speed and average ring movement, perfect for Roy Jones Jr. to look good against.

Hopefully, after Jones beats this guy, he'll grow a pair and step up against a champion. Better yet, I wouldnt mind seeing him moving up to the cruiserweight or heavyweight division to fight someone like O'Neil Bell or Nikolay Valuev. Now, that would be interesting, just for the spectacle.
