Froch and Dodson make weight
23.11.06 - British and Commonwealth super middleweight champion Carl Froch and long-time rival Tony Dodson both scaled well inside the 12 stone super middleweight limit ahead of their highly anticipated showdown at the Nottingham Arena tomorrow night. Dodson was the first to step on the scales at this afternoon’s lively weigh-in, attended by scores of members from both camps..

The Liverpudlian’s physique backed up his claims that he is in the shape of his career, as did his weight. The former British champion was 2lb inside at 11st 12lbs. Hennessy Sports promoted Froch – as perfectly chiseled as ever – was just half a pound heavier.
The confident looking pair then squared up for the traditional head-to-head. The verbal war that took place at the press conference earlier this month when the pair first met was not repeated. There is no need when you are at the business end.
The chief support contest on the Hennessy Sports ‘Outright’ promotion also promises to be lively. Dave Stewart, returning from his fight of the year candidate against Lee Meager, meets Kpakpo Allotey in an eliminator for the Commonwealth lightweight championship.
Former British title challenger Stewart, as professional as ever, registered 9st 8lb 7oz. Former Commonwealth title challenger Allotey, who has acquitted himself well on these shores previously, removed his underwear to come in bang on 9st 9lb.
Billy Corcoran’s weight is also worth noting. The former British super featherweight title challenger, who takes on Sean Hughes over 8 rounds, debuts at super bantamweight. He came in half a pound under the 8 stone 10lb limit. Hughes was spot on.
The Hennessy Sports ‘Outright’ promotion takes place at the Nottingham Arena on Friday 24th November. Tickets priced £25-£80 are available on 0870 121 0123. For the latest bill please visit www.HennessySports.com.
