Who Got Beef? Sandra Stokes-Simms Wants To Know; Bring It On, Jin Mosley And Marta Vargas

07.01.07 - By Michael Marley - Boxing Nobody asked me, but....My plans are progressing for the "Battle Of The Boxing Wives" PPV event. I am thinking of bringing Jerry Springer in as guest referee. Our newest entrant is Tremendous Travis Simms' better half, Sandra Stokes-Simms, and she says she can whip Jin Mosley, the Korean Tigercat, and Marta Vargas, the Chicana Cougar, on the same night. Who got beef with Sandra is what our newest contestant wants to know. By the way, who is Sandra's sidekick, the shrill lady talking on her mobile while looking all agile and hostile? Sidekick is louder than Don King.. Who dat? I've got to know....Our judges will be Tracy Byrd, Tina McCline and a third judge to be named later...

You can stick a fork in Fernando Vargas because's he is done but I wouldn't mind seeing Nando fight one more time. But Trickardo Mayorga, the faux bully? And on PPV? I have a feeling that will turn out to be PPF, pay per few. It's easy to predict Mayorga collapsing like a cheap umbrella in heavy rain and wind. I guess Mayorga won't do a fake pre-fight pullout like he did against Oscar either...after that little stunt I truly cannot understand why a smart guy like Mark Taffet at HBO would bother with this jerk...

Wasn't it nice to have to two nights of TV boxing, with two Showtime cards and one on ESPN, and no real officiating controversies?...

I bet even though he has a galvanizing victory over Danny Williams, Formerly Fraudley Harrison will be content to keep fighting in the UK where the opposition is limited and the pay is more than decent. As of the end of December, Harrison was completely unlisted in the WBA, IBF, WBO and WBC ratings of the top 15 heavyweights. Unless perhaps that is the brittle Brit using the name Not Rated in the Number One spot of the IBF. So line up the English chumps and Audley will stay domestic. The contents of Ricky Hatton's daily breakfast gets more ink in the UK than anything Harrison does but I guess Big Aud is used to that by now. Though he brought Olympic gold back home, Harrison will never be an Honorary Caucasian like "Know Wot I Mean, 'Arry" Frank Bruno was...

I just learned what MMA stands for so I'm a complete novice but Shaw's Feb. 10 card on Showtime featuring Frank Shamrock against Royce Gracie has sparked interest and some controversy already in those circles. The innovation on the Showtime shows will be a 15 second time limit on ground fighting and purists claim that it will detract from the competition.

It's a smart move that this event is being held 15 minutes from downtown Memphis because that city and area have always been wrestling hotbeds. They say that Spike TV was blind sided by Showtime's sudden entry into MMA...

Give Sam Peter all the credit for refining his skills but he did go 24 rounds with James Toney and, if they fought again it would also go the limit. One knockdown over 24 rounds and that came when a jab tipped an off-balance Toney over. My question is who said Peter is such a fearsome puncher? I don't have visions of Earnie Shavers if you get my drift..
