The former Canadian cruiserweight champion, who’s amassed an imposing 13-1 (9 KO) record since turning pro in 2001, took a two-year sabbatical from the sweet science to appear in several boxing movies, including “Cinderella Man” directed by Ron Howard and starring Russell Crowe, and more recently, “Resurrecting the Champ” with Samuel L. Jackson.
Ross, who recently signed a promotional agreement with Hennessy Sports Canada, enthused over his Saturday clash and stated his ambitions, “I hear stories about the guy I’m fighting against and I’m looking forward to it.
“I’m hoping I can turn some heads to my direction and hopefully get some love down here.”
The big hitting Toronto native discussed his preparations for Saturday, “Training’s been going really good – I’ve had good sparring partners and I’m very confident in my skills right now”.
Ross concluded: “I’m a boxer-puncher, so it doesn’t matter whether it goes the distance. But if it gets stopped earlier then it’s a good day and we can go home with a smile, earlier than we expected.”
