Speedy Gonzales Training With Vivian Harris

21.01.07 - Exciting Junior Welterweight Al “Speedy” Gonzales (16-2-1, 7 KO’s) is sparring with former Junior Welterweight Champion, Vivian Harris. Gonzales is putting on the finishing touches as he prepares for his January 24th in Chicago. This will be Gonzales first bout after a two year lay-off. Gonzales will return to Las Vegas after Wednesday’s fight to continue working with Harris. Harris is preparing for a February 10th, WBC Lightweight elimination bout with Juan Lazcano..

“I feel great,” Gonzales said after working 7-rounds with Harris. “My wind was good and I feel great. This has been a great camp with Eddie (trainer Eddie Mustafa Muhammad). I’m looking forward to fighting again in Chicago.

Gonzales’ manager echoed those sentiments. “All the reports I’ve been getting on Speedy have been great. He’s been getting world-class sparring and looking good in the process. I’m expecting Speedy to shine in his next couple of fights and then get him signed with a major promoter.”

“Speedy’s training practices have made a 180,” added co-manager Albert Falcon. “We’ve hired a new trainer in Eddie Mustafa Muhammad and a very well respected conditioning coach (Axel Murillo). Gone are the days of staying out until 4 a.m.”

New trainer and former WBA Light Heavyweight Champion, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, added, “Speedy’s been great. He has a fighters mentality, which I like, and he’s been looking fantastic. People who saw Speedy’s last fight are not going to recognize him January 24th.”

Gonzales will be part of Bobby Hitz’ “Wednesday Night Fights,” January 24th at the Sears Centre, Hoffman Estates, IL. The Sears Centre is a 35 minute commute from Chicago. The action starts at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased by calling (847) 649-2222, Warehouse Gym & Boxing Club (847) 831-0723, or, by going to searscentre.com.
