Speedy Gonzales Returns On Hitz' "Wednesday Night Fights"

23.01.07 - Exciting Junior Welterweight Al “Speedy” Gonzales (16-2-1, 7 KO’s) will face the crafty Nelson Romine (7-1-1), on Bobby Hitz’ “Wednesday Night Fights,” January 24th at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, IL, 35-minutes northwest of Chicago. Gonzales weighed-in at a ripped and ready 145lbs. and is looking forward to his first ring appearance in two years. “I’m ready and I can’t wait,” said a confident Gonzales..

“I’ve been training with Vivian Harris and I feel great. After this fight, I’ll head back down to Las Vegas and continue sparring with Vivian as he gets ready for his February fight title eliminator.”

“This is the first step in what will be an impressive year for Speedy,” said co-manager Patrick Doljanin. “Speedy has always had the talent and ability, but he lacked the commitment. He’s recommitted himself and worked extremely hard with his new trainer, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad and personal trainer, Axel Murillo and Wednesday night’s performance will speak for itself.”

“Speedy’s got everybody’s respect down here (in Las Vegas),” said trainer and former WBA Light Heavyweight Champion, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad. “Nobody believes he hasn’t fought for two years;\. He’s working with a guy (Harris) who’s fighting for a title and he’s more than holding his own.”
